An exceptional silver and vermeil napkin ring, with neo-renaissance decoration of flowers and swans, with a central shield engraved : AP / 14 Mai / 1882.

Un rond serviette exceptionnel en argent massif et partiellement doré, à décor néo-Renaissance de fleurs et cygnes sur un fond amati, avec au milieu un blason portant l’inscription : AP / 14 Mai / 1882.

Documentation :
The importation hallmark used between 1864 and 1893 was a charançon (weevil), in an oval, it was applied to objects of 800/1000 silver coming from contracting countries. It is therefore probable that the napkin ring is of Belgian manufacture. Belgium is in part a French speaking country, it is one of the contracting countries, and it had no obligation to hallmark silverware in the XIXth century after 1868.

Le poinçon d’importation utilisé entre 1864 et 1893 était le charançon, dans un ovale, pour les objets en argent de 800/1000 venus des pays contractants. Il est donc probable que le rond est de fabrication Belge. La Belgique est un pays d’une partie francophone, contractant, et où il n’avait pas de l’obligation de poinçonner de l’argenterie dans le XIXème siècle après 1868.
